MindOUT develops and delivers national suicide prevention initiatives aimed at building the capacity of the health sector to meet LGBTI population needs, thereby improving mental health and reducing suicide amongst LGBTI people and communities.


LGBTI people have a heightened risk of mental health diagnosis, psychological distress, self-harm, suicide ideation, and suicide attempts. MindOut works with mainstream mental health and suicide prevention organisations to assist them to be more responsive to the needs of LGBTI people and communities, and assisting LGBTI organisations to be more responsive to suicide prevention and mental health issues for LGBTI persons and communities. MindOut provides relevant resources and self-auditing tools to assess LGBTI service inclusivity and delivery for your organisation. MindOut is a project run within Working It Out – Tasmania’s gender, sexuality and intersex status support and education service.
